WSOP Partners With Solana to Launch Crypto Ticket Purchases With Zero Fees
- WSOP partners with Solana Foundation; Solana to sponsor 2026 WSOP events.
- Players can buy tickets and get payouts in crypto with zero fees via MoonPay.
- Enhanced global reach with exclusive events, player ambassadors, and major TV broadcasts.
The World Series of Poker named Solana its official 2026 presenting sponsor. Through MoonPay infrastructure, players can now buy Las Vegas tournament tickets with Solana for zero fees, while December's WSOP Paradise will offer tournament settlements in stablecoins.
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the Solana Foundation have announced a first of its kind collaboration, establishing Solana as the official Presenting Sponsor of both the 2026 World Series of Poker and the 2026 World Series of Poker Paradise.
This partnership integrates cryptocurrency directly into the global tournament experience, marking a historic shift in how tournament transactions are processed.
Fee-Free Crypto Ticket Purchases Debut in Las Vegas
The initiative launches today at the 57th annual summer event, hosted at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas.
For the first time in the history of the WSOP, players can buy tournament tickets directly using cryptocurrency. This payment method utilizes Solana blockchain technology and is powered by MoonPay’s payment infrastructure, ensuring zero processing fees for users.
As a high performance blockchain, Solana is capable of processing thousands of transactions per second. Its average fees remain below $0.001, providing the speed and ultra low costs required for a streamlined transaction experience.
The integration is designed to reduce financial friction for the global poker ecosystem, offering greater accessibility for international players traveling to these marquee events.
Stablecoin Settlements Coming to WSOP Paradise
The collaboration will expand later this year at the 2026 WSOP Paradise event in The Bahamas, scheduled for this December. At this event, tournament winners can receive their payouts as settlements in stablecoins on the Solana network.
This expansion enables near instant access to payments and reduces the logistical friction often tied to international tournament settlements.
Industry leaders highlighted the natural alignment between the digital asset space and the competitive poker community.
Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP, noted that Solana's ecosystem focuses heavily on the consumer experience, stating that its speed and efficiency mirror the fast paced energy of the tournaments.
Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, pointed out that trading on Solana has generated over $4 trillion in volume over the last few years.
Norby stated that trading shares core characteristics with poker, such as making hard decisions with incomplete information and managing a bankroll. Jim Walker, President of MoonPay Commerce, added that powering ticket purchases and settlements through MoonPay on Solana fulfills a direct demand for faster, borderless payments.
Beyond payment processing, the Solana Foundation will sponsor a selected group of poker player ambassadors to represent the ecosystem during the summer event in Las Vegas.
The Solana ecosystem will also host exclusive hospitality events at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas, followed by a premier experience during WSOP Paradise in The Bahamas this winter. Future plans include the development of collaborative onchain poker products created alongside the WSOP.
