WSOP has named reigning Main Event champion Lucas Jumalon its WSOP Academy ambassador. He will tour WSOP Circuit events worldwide, host exclusive customer meet-up games, select a protégé for the 2027 Main Event, and feature in a WSOP-produced travelogue series.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has appointed 22-year-old reigning WSOP Main Event Champion Lucas Jumalon as global ambassador for its new WSOP Academy app.

Jumalon won the Main Event title and $10,000,000 in August and will help introduce poker to a new generation through the learning platform.

Jumalon to Tour WSOP Circuit Events

As part of the agreement, Jumalon will visit WSOP Circuit events worldwide on a season-long search for his next poker protégé.

At each stop, he will host a meet-up game exclusively for WSOP Academy customers, with one participant receiving a complimentary seat in that venue's WSOP Circuit Main Event.

At the end of the tour, Jumalon will select one standout player from the meet-up game winners. The chosen protégé will receive an invitation to compete in the 2027 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas under his mentorship. The tournament has a $10,000 buy-in.

WSOP CEO Ty Stewart said Jumalon impressed the organisation with his maturity and willingness to give back, adding that the WSOP looks forward to working with him on the development and promotion of WSOP Academy.

First Stop Scheduled for November 13

The search begins on November 13 at Dusk to Dawn Casino in Nottingham, UK. WSOP Academy users can expect further details on how to participate in the inaugural meet-up game.

Jumalon said his own experience of dreaming about winning the Main Event has inspired him to help another player pursue the same ambition.

He also expressed enthusiasm about travelling worldwide, meeting emerging players and potentially discovering a future final-table competitor.

A WSOP production team will accompany Jumalon throughout the tour, recording his experiences on and off the felt.

The resulting travelogue-style series will premiere exclusively on the WSOP's official YouTube channel, with the first episode expected to be released late next month.
