World Poker Tour announces 2024 WPT World Championship dates
- First details of WPT World Championship 2004 announced
- World Poker Tour heading to Wynn Las Vegas on December 3-20
The World Poker Tour and Wynn Las Vegas will partner for the third consecutive year to host the WPT World Championship from December 3-23 at the renowned Las Vegas resort.
The festival will serve as the pinnacle of Season XXII of the World Poker Tour and will crown a new World Champion.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska said in a press release: "With great pride, we unveil the festival dates for the highly anticipated 2024 WPT World Championship. The tradition continues as we enter our third year alongside the incredible Wynn Las Vegas team, so mark your calendars in preparation for what is sure to be another memorable December."
Last year, the $1,100 buy-in WPT Prime Championship set the overall WPT attendance record for a live WPT event with 10,512 entries, generating a prize pool of more than $10 million.
In addition, the $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship, which had the largest guaranteed prize pool in live tournament poker history at $40 million, set a WPT Main Tour attendance record with 3,835 entrants.
In total, the 2023 WPT World Championship festival at Wynn Las Vegas drew a total of 33,712 entries from all over the world, resulting in more than $100m in total prize money awarded.
There were 23 tournaments across the festival schedule, with 14 generating a prize pool of at least $1 million. A complete schedule for the 2024 WPT World Championship festival at Wynn Las Vegas will be announced in the coming months, with qualifying events running worldwide via WPTGlobal.com.
Ryan Beauregard, executive director of poker operations at Wynn Las Vegas, said of the announcement of this year's World Championship: "“We are ecstatic to continue our partnership with the World Poker Tour for the third consecutive year. Over the coming months, we'll work diligently to craft an event schedule poker players from all over the world won’t want to miss."
