- New champion takes home $2,563,900
The WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas has a new reigning champion: Scott Stewart.
Stewart took home the massive top prize of $2,563,900, which includes a seat to next year’s championship, and he joins the World Poker Tour Champions Club.
"No plans for the money, but plans to have some fun and I can’t be more excited," he said following his victory.
"I got the best friends in the world. A lot of friends came out. Shout out to you guys. You’re the best. We like to have fun, anything we do. We had a little bit of extra fun today and it was worth it."
A total of 2,392 entrants competed in the third annual $10,400 buy-in tournament, generating a $23,441,600 prize pool.
The top 299 finishers were awarded a payout of at least $19,600.
"I would like to offer a huge thank you to all the players and Wynn staff that made the third annual WPT World Championship an event to remember," said WPT CEO Adam Pliska.
"There were some exceptional competitors this year. Our compliments go out to Scott for coming out on top and cementing his spot in WPT history."
All six players at the televised final table took home more than $600,000. A deal was made during three-handed play, evening out the top three payouts.
Rob Sherwood claimed $2,200,000 as the runner-up, Eddie Pak placed third for $2,000,000, WPT Champion Chris Moorman placed fourth, an identical finish to his previous run in 2023, for $1,150,000, Ryan Yu placed fifth for $875,000, and Christian Roberts placed sixth for $665,000.
Other notable players earned a WPT World Championship cash, including 2024 WPT Prime Slovakia Champion Fabian Gumz (12th place), WPT Big One for One Drop Champion Mikita Badziakouski (19th place), 2021 GPI Female Player of the Year Nadya Magnus (63rd place), WPT Champions Michael Wang (88th place), Robert Mizrachi (94th place), and David Baker (104th place), 2023 WPT Prime Championship winner Calvin Anderson (122nd place), and three-time WPT Champion Chino Rheem (194th place).
